Empty Nesters, 3 Tips to Help You Reclaim the Life You Always Dreamed of Living.
The time is now to rediscover what ignites your soul.
You have been living your life for others. It is time you discover how to reclaim your dreams using the tips I used to rediscover my own life.
Our kids are grown, and now is our time to rediscover our passions and what makes us happy.
Unfortunately, parents often neglect this opportunity. After years of dismissing their desires, they immerse themselves in distractions and old habits and fail to recognize their passions.
Life is not over.
Every empty nester faces the same fears.
- Fear of change.
- It’s not being responsible.
- I am too old.
Don’t let these stop you.
By changing the obstacle into a stepping stone, you liberate yourself from I can’t to I will.
You have to know where to begin.
Step 1: Decide what you want in life.
Before, you focused on your child’s needs and wants. Now it’s about you.
What do you want to do: skydiving or travel? Perhaps write a book.
I wanted to write and travel. I went to Vegas, took a cruise, joined a writing group, took courses, and am now a freelance writer.
If I hadn’t moved past my fears, where would I be today?
Step 2: Don’t let fear stop you.
We tell our kids they can do anything if they work hard enough.
Now you need the pep talk. You must prioritize your wants and needs then devise a plan to make them happen. You have set goals for your children all their lives. Now put those skills to work for you.
Be a role model for your children by showing them the courage and determination you have to follow your dreams.
Step 3: Make it happen!
Right now, pick something you always wanted to do and make a plan.
Look at your calendar and set aside time to take a class, hang out with friends, or plan a trip.
Now do it!
Nothing is holding you back except YOU!
